About Me

Hi!  My name is Erin.  I moved to Northern California from Gainesville, FL in 2008.  I currently live in San Leandro with my boyfriend and my cat, and I work in Berkeley.

I came to veganism gradually.  I gave up beef and pork in high school, chicken and turkey a few years later, and seafood in my last year of college.  I took the final step and went vegan in 2005.

From October ’09 through March 2010, I attended the Natural Chef Program at Bauman College.  To see all of my posts regarding Bauman, including my thoughts on the program, click here.  If you have any questions about my experience at Bauman, or about anything on the blog, feel free to contact me at veganhomemade@gmail.com.

I hope to eventually make cooking my full time job, and am currently available for in-home catering or personal chef jobs on nights or weekends.  Click here for more info!

    Sarah,

It’s from the Don’t Eat Off The Sidwalk zine. The author has generously place it online though: http://donteatoffthesidewalk.com/?p=129

I like you. I like when you feed me soy-free vegan food. And I like when I can also feed you, occasionally.

We should have an Indian-themed night where we make a couple of curries and basmati rice with all kinds of veggies and naan. MMMM.

It was St. Patrick’s Day, what can I say? Also notice the colcannon, the potato bread, and the clovers I tried to stencil onto the cake.

Our goal is a world with greater compassion. It seems like we share that. If you can squeeze it into your schedule I’d love to chat. Hi Elizabeth, thanks for noticing. Cleansing is always difficult for me due to the limitations, but luckily there are pre-made products like yours for when I’m feeling lazy 🙂

Sorry- I couldn’t find an e-mail address to write you. Do you ever hike in the bay area, or visit woodsy areas? I hike there and went to the hospital with Bells Palsy, it took a while to figure out but it was actually Lyme Disease from a tick bite (which we never saw…) While the palsy went away the other symptoms like fatigue started creeping up and only antibiotics would work. Just a thought. You can read up on symptoms and the best doctors at ilads.org

    • veganhomemade said

Hi, and thanks so much for your comment and concern. I actually did go hiking at Lake Chabot a few days before getting sick, so I am on the look out for other symptoms in case it might be Lyme Disease. So far, so good. I really appreciate you taking the time to make sure I was aware!

    Hi Erin,
I just found your website looking for a vegan recipe and noticed your cat. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Your cat looks just like my cat Charlie! He looks exactly like him not just a little! It’s unbelievable!

I live in Modesto, CA. and used to live in San Leandro too. I moved to Modesto about 5 years ago . If you ever want to get together to talk about vegan food or our cats let me know. I’m in Oakland on Mondays usually for work.

I’m glad I found your site. Maybe I’ll learn something from you. Thanks.

    Dear Erin

I have had a look at your website and I love your recipes.

Could you please help me on something…. I have been trying to make scones from a while now with wholemeal wheat … and they turn out to be quite crumbly and so soft that you cannot apply any jam or any toppings on them,…. which I think is may be because the recipe calls for eggs and I do not eat eggs… I was wondering if you can suggest some recipes please…. thank you
